No doubt you’ve all heard Air New Zealand is withdrawing from Kapiti Airport with the final flight on April 3 2018. For those of us working with Air New Zealand to build demand for the service it came as a shock! What was an exciting opportunity for Porirua city has gone before we had the opportunity to embrace it.
Their announcement comes just a week after Air New Zealand presented at a Porirua Chamber of Commerce breakfast, and then again collaborated with the successful Kapiti Coast Airport Open Day with more than 1000 people attending.
The convenience of the Air New Zealand flights was also muddied with ongoing cancellations and delays and unfortunately time was against us to build momentum.
A big thank you to Kapiti Coast Chamber of Commerce, Kapiti Coast City Council and Kapiti Coast Airport – its been a pleasure to support this campaign with you.
But let’s watch this space – will another airline with competitive pricing and a winning flight schedule see this as a great opportunity – we certainly hope so!
