Morning...
As you can see we've changed the day that the e-brief is sent out to Tuesday mornings. This is in response to many of you saying you don't have time to read the e-brief on Fridays, and to make sure you all have the change to make the most of the opportunities we'll be sending out.
This e-brief goes to a large number of people and businesses in the region, not all of whom are members. Most of the new opportunities I'm about to introduce will be limited to members only, so it's important that you know if you are currently a member or not.
IMPORTANT
Basically, if you have a membership card and certificate, you are a member. If not, you may not be. This will mean you won't be able to make the most of the new services, including special events, training, promotional opportunities, and more.
If you're not sure, and would like to find out if you're currently a member, please contact myself or Sara. Alternatively you can join via the Chamber website, www.poriruachamber.co.nz
Introducing Sara Kidd - Membership Co-Ordinator
Hi my name is Sara Kidd. I have been with the Chamber since November 2010 and have recently changed my role to include more interaction and one on one contact with the members. Anything you would like to know, any questions or queries you may have about membership, I'm the one to talk to. I am very interested in meeting people, especially those who are members. I would also like to get to know a bit about your business to help me, to help you. If you would like to make an appointment for me to come out and see you, you can call me 2375590 or email sara@poriruachamber.co.nz (Sara works Wednesday mornings and Friday full day)

VISA wellington on a plate
Put fine cuisine and great events in Porirua on the culinary map!
Visa Wellington on a Plate is organised by Positively Wellington Tourism and Grow Wellington and covers the wider Wellington Region. This is a great opportunity for restaurants, cafes, event managers, suppliers, or anyone with a great idea to be part of a major advertising and promotional campaign establishing the Wellington region as the cuisine capital of New Zealand.
If you'd like more information on how your business can get involved, or would like to discuss ideas for how we promote Porirua within this format, contact holly@poriruachamber.co.nz or see the website www.wellingtononaplate.co.nz
networking
Many of the advantages of being a Chamber member relate back to networking and how that can benefit your business. Networking is NOT a natural skill or talent for most people. It is something you learn and develop over time, and sometimes it's the last thing you feel like doing at the end of the day. So why is it so important?
Here's a great article that explains both HOW to make the most of networking as well as why. It's short, just 5 key examples, but it explains a lot about why the Chamber will be providing so many more networking opportunities.
